I’m delighted to share that my story The Water Cycle received an Honorable Mention in the 2026 Vivian Kirkfield 50 Precious Words Contest. This joyful annual challenge celebrates the art of telling a complete story in just fifty words — and I’m honored that Little Drop’s journey was recognized.
You can learn more about the contest on Vivian Kirkfield’s website: (viviankirkfield.com)
The Water Cycle is a piece of narrative nonfiction, following Little Drop as it swirls, splashes, floats, and falls through the natural cycle that shapes our world. Here’s a small peek:
“‘Yippee,” Little Drop dripped.
“Where to?” the Wind whispered…
“Here we go again,” Little Drop floated.”
My hope is to grow this tiny tale into a board book for our youngest learners — a playful, science‑infused introduction to the natural world and the rhythms that guide it.
Thank you for celebrating this little droplet’s big adventure with me. More stories are already forming on the horizon.
