Description

Maddy’s Towers is a warm, thoughtful story that helps children make sense of how hurt can happen and how healing is possible. I appreciate how the book breaks down a complex idea like trust into simple moments that children can understand without feeling overwhelmed. It doesn’t shy away from hard feelings, but instead shows that they are a natural part of connection and can be worked through with care and intention. The story invites meaningful conversations between children and adults about emotions, impact, and repair. What makes this book especially valuable is how it speaks to adults, too. Many of us instinctively want to fix things quickly or protect children from feeling hurt, but Maddy’s Towers reminds us to slow down and allow space for children to process emotions. The visuals are engaging and the message easily carries into everyday moments at home or in the classroom. Helpful resources at the end extend these ideas and encourage continued conversation. It also builds essential skills like recognizing emotions, fostering empathy, and making thoughtful choices—skills that help children navigate relationships with confidence. Overall, Maddy’s Towers is a meaningful addition across settings, offering a practical and reassuring way to support children’s emotional growth.

  1. Love Light Connection (store manager)

Maddy’s Towers is a beautiful story about the power, beauty, and wisdom of trust in ourselves and trust in others.

Inbal beautifully depicts trust through the analogy of a tower of blocks. Every kind, honest, and caring action adds another block to the tower. Sometimes a tower loses a few blocks, or even falls completely, when someone acts in an untrustworthy way.

I love the wisdom in this analogy because it reminds us that the history of the tower matters. Seeing how it was built, how often it has been damaged, and how it has been repaired helps us discern whether a relationship is worth rebuilding. In doing so, we learn not only to trust others wisely, but also to trust our own ability to make discerning, loving choices.

And that’s exactly what Maddy models in this story. After her trust is broken, she pauses and reflects. She remembers both the hurt she experienced and the friendship she and Mei had built over time, and ultimately lets love and presence guide her next step. She trusts herself to make a discerning choice and, in doing so, opens her heart to rebuilding trust with Mei.

Maddy’s Towers beautifully explores what it means to trust ourselves, build trust with others, and rebuild trust with wisdom and discernment when it’s broken. Like the tower itself, trust is built one loving choice at a time.

One of my favorite lines comes near the end of the story:

“Some towers are short… But maybe they’re not done.”

What a beautiful reminder that life is shaped by the choices we make and the relationships we build through love and trust. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is trust ourselves to take the next loving step toward building the relationships that matter most.
